Explanation of Street Poker As a Round of Betting. Any of the betting rounds in any poker variant can be referred to as “streets”. The names of the streets will depend on the variant. Community card games → Preflop, flop, turn, river. Stud/Razz → 3rd/4th/5th/6th/7th street. (7th street also called “the river”). Some players three-bet way too wide a range and some way too tight a range. Both extremes can be very exploitable and understanding the underlying reasons behind three-betting will help you do it much more effectively. There are essentially two types of three-bets: The Value 3-Bet. The Light 3-Bet.
- J♠ J ♦ doesn’t get to extract three streets of value on most run outs. Getting raised sucks because we’ll be up against a range with many strong hands and there will be a lot of bad turn cards for our hand (any heart, 7, 6, 3, Ace, King or Queen) Note that the JJ combinations that have a backdoor flush draw are bet at a higher frequency.
